TCP, being the primary protocol for reliable data transmission over the internet, breaks down data into smaller segments called packets for efficient transmission. These packets are then transmitted from the sender to the receiver through a series of network devices. The TCP MSS value is crucial in determining the size of these packets.<\/p>\n

When two devices establish a TCP connection, they negotiate the TCP MSS value during the initial handshake process. This negotiation takes place through the TCP option called Maximum Segment Size. Each device advertises its preferred MSS value, and the devices then agree upon the lower value to ensure that both ends can accommodate the segment size.<\/p>\n
